DAY 3. Wednesday 20 May 2026: Sarria
Today is a day to get over your jet lag and get acclimatized to your new environment. THE WAY OF SAINT JAMES. We are going to take advantage of our (almost) non-walking day to visit some of the area’s emblematic historical Camino sites. We will commence with a guided tour of the Monastery of San Xulián de Samos. Several architectural styles, including late Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque, combine to form this monastery. But the foundation of the monastery dates back to the mid-600s. From there, our journey will take us to the hilltop hamlet of O Cebreiro, one of the most significant places along the Camino de Santiago and home to the church of Santa María la Real. Here we will learn somewhat more about the local rural architecture, the church, its legend, and the significant act that a priest of this parish carried out in 1984. After a short free time period to get a snack for lunch, we are going to take the opportunity to enjoy a short 8 km walk through wonderful countryside towards the town of Triacastela. Once we have regrouped, we will travel back to Sarria. Before dinner, there is an orientation talk about the following day’s walk and reflection time. Breakfast, Dinner & Overnight in Sarria
DAY 4. Thursday, 21 May 2026: Sarria to Portomarin.
Your pilgrimage begins. Today’s walk, from Sarria to Portomarin, is approx. 23 km through the beautiful rolling hills of Galicia. One of the most beautiful days of your journey, where you can find your footing and breathe. A day when, without a doubt, you will meet many fellow pilgrims as your new adventure unfolds. A day when you will also pass by the 100 km to the Santiago point. Overnight in Portomarin.
DAY 5. Friday 22 May 2026: Portomarin to Logoso
Early breakfast and check out. Departing Portomarin, leaving the Minho River behind as we climb the hill at the beginning part of today’s walk. Approx. 20 km, Portomarin to Ligonde. Through fields, farmland, and the ancient settlement of Castromayor. Passing through small roadside villages such as Gonzar, Hospital da Cruz, and Ligonde, before finally arriving at our meeting point at the end of the day’s walk. From there, you will be transferred in our vehicle to our night’s rural accommodation, which is just a 5-minute drive away. Early evening orientation talk about the following day’s walk. Dinner & overnight Logoso
DAY 6. Saturday 23 May 2026: Logoso to Melide
Breakfast and check out, and you will be taken to the end point of yesterday’s walk. Today’s walk is a similar distance to yesterday. Approx. 21 km from Ligonde to Melide. We are still walking through the countryside, but today’s walk ends in the bustling town of Melide. Famous for its octopus gastronomy. An optional dinner is available at a local octopus restaurant, but the cost is not included. After dinner an orientation talk about the following day’s walk. Overnight Melide
DAY 7. Sunday, 24 May 2026: Melide to Arzua.
Early breakfast and check out. Our body is weary, and our feet are tired. A shorter walk today, from Melide to Arzua, approx. 16 km. A series of up and down hills takes you to the Iso River; from there, the final uphill of the day leads into the town of Arzua. Overnight in Arzua.
DAY 8. Monday 25 May 2026: Arzua to Pedrouzo
Early breakfast and check out. Today’s walk is from Arzúa to Pedrouzo, approx. 23 km. Believe us when we say that you will have forgotten yesterday’s hardships and actually wish that this day’s walk was longer. We are nearing the end of our pilgrimage; signs of city life are slowly appearing, but we have not yet left the countryside behind. Today is a perfect moment to reflect on your journey. A day when the Camino invites you to go at a snail’s pace. Before dinner there is an orientation talk about the following day’s walk and reflection time. Dinner and Overnight: Pedrouzo
DAY 9. Tuesday, 26 May 2026: Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela.
Early breakfast and checkout. Our last day’s walk, Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela, approx. 23 km. We begin
to say goodbye to the forests and fields, the small villages becoming larger, and the roads busier and noisier. Once we reach Monte Do Gozo (Mount of Joy), with the city in sight, there is a final downhill before we cross the bustling city to our destination. We started as a family; the path has been the same, but the journey has been so different for every one of us.
