Day 1—Departure
Travel to Scotland: This is your travel day, where you’ll head to Scotland, likely with a long flight overnight. The meals on board help make the journey more comfortable.
Day 2 – Arrival in Edinburgh
Meet and Greet: After arriving in Edinburgh, you’ll gather with the rest of the group. This is a good opportunity to meet fellow pilgrims and get settled into the trip.
Day 3 – Discovering Edinburgh
Morning–Afternoon: Explore Edinburgh at your own pace
Suggested highlights:
Edinburgh Castle & the Royal Mile
St Giles’ Cathedral and Holyrood Palace
National Museum of Scotland
Optional: Walk up Arthur’s Seat for panoramic views
Overnight: Edinburgh
Day 4 – Lindisfarne & Bamburgh Castle
Lindisfarne, known as “Holy Island,” was the site where St. Aidan established a Christian monastery in the 7th century. It’s deeply connected to early Christianity in the British Isles.
Bamburgh Castle: A castle with a long history, originally a fortress of the ancient Kingdom of Northumbria, and now one of the most iconic landmarks in England.
Day 5 – St. Andrews & Rosslyn Chapel
St. Andrews: A key location for Christianity in Scotland. It’s famously home to a prestigious university and the legendary golf course, but its significance in the Reformation is even more critical.
Rosslyn Chapel: Famous for its mysterious carvings and featured in The Da Vinci Code. Its beauty and intrigue draw many visitors, but its historical and spiritual symbolism is far more profound.
Group Dinner/Meet and Greet: You’ll gather with the rest of the group for a welcoming dinner. This is a good opportunity to meet fellow pilgrims and get settled into the trip.
Introduction to the Isle of Iona presentation: learn about the island’s history, spirituality, and your upcoming stay
Overnight: Edinburgh
Day 6 – Stirling & Oban
Depart from Edinburgh in the morning by private coach
Stop 1: Stirling Castle – one of Scotland’s grandest castles with sweeping views
Scenic Drive: Continue by bus through the Scottish Highlands, passing through Glencoe for a glimpse of its dramatic mountains and historic valleys
Evening: Dinner on your own — explore Oban’s waterfront restaurants and pubs
Overnight: Oban
Day 7 – Travel to Iona
Iona: This island is one of the most spiritually significant places in Scotland. The Iona Abbey, founded by St. Columba in the 6th century, became a center for Christianity and learning, influencing much of the Christian world.
Days 8-12 – Iona
Iona: You’ll spend several days here, soaking in the peace and spirituality of the island. Many visitors feel a deep sense of connection to both nature and faith here. The abbey is a place of pilgrimage, meditation, and reflection.
Day 13 – Return to the Mainland & Travel to Glasgow
Early morning ferry: Iona → Mull → Oban
Travel to Glasgow by private coach)
Afternoon: Free time to explore Glasgow
Suggestions: Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Riverside Museum, Buchanan Street shopping
Evening: Farewell Group Dinner & Processing Gathering
Reflect on the journey and share highlights together
Overnight: Glasgow
Day 14 – Departure
Breakfast and airport transfers to Glasgow International Airport (GLA)
Depart for flights home to the U.S.
